Khowutzun Forest Services believes in practicing Silviculural design and intervention that maximizes the economic, environmental, cultural and aesthetic value of the forest.

Through silviculture best practices, we achieve a number of forest management objectives. We improve a young forest's value as a provider of timber yields, cultural value, wildlife habitat and recreation opportunities and decrease the chance of the forest becoming destroyed by fire, disease and insects.

KFS has been involved in a number of silviculture projects providing employment to Cowichan community members. Some of these projects were completed in December 2004, including a white pine pruning and brushing contract with Weyerhaeuser; a manual brushing contract with the Municipality of North Cowichan; and a manual brushing project on the Paldi property.
