We know that all injuries can be prevented and we, the Khowutzun Forestry Services Ltd., are committed to the safety of our employees on the worksite. Accordingly, we have developed a comprehensive Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan detailing field safety guidelines. As an employer we ensure that each employee of KFS knows the requirements and regulations in regards to his or her job and that employees are properly trained to make certain that accident prevention standards are maintained. Upon job induction, workers undergo Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) training and Material Safety Data Sheets (M.S.D.S.) are updated every three years in order to stay current. In addition, Survival First Aid is taught to all employees every two years and Industrial First Aid training is made available to all interested employees.

To ensure the safety of our employees in the field, workers are outfitted with proper safety equipment as outlined under section 14 of WCB standards and they are familiarized with the location of the emergency transport vehicle, first aid kit, first aid attendant, hospital and emergency communication procedures. Safety meetings are held semi-annually for the participation of the entire operation, and members of the Accident Prevention Committee meet monthly to discuss matters involving safety.
