KFS has completed a number of projects with the Municipality of North Cowichan. In 2001, KFS delivered a Second Lift Training Program in cooperation with the Municipality of North Cowichan and New Forest Operations. Eight Cowichan participants received second lift training. Last year, the Municipality issued a direct invitation to local First Nations for a conifer release contract. We were the successful bidders and completed the project that spanned more than 34 hectares.

KFS has a longstanding relationship with Weyerhaeuser and we have had several successful contracts with Weyerhaeuser since our inception in 1998. Some of our past projects with Weyerhaeuser have included a brushing and weeding contract that covered the area from the Malahat to Campbell River, tree planting, and white pine pruning in North West Bay.

In 2003 KFS completed a brushing and weeding contract for BC Hydro that covered more than 70 hectares in the Glenora area. The project was completed over a three month period and employed eight people.

KFS has had two contracts with North West Hardwoods. In 2003, we engineered the cut blocks for two alder logging blocks that were 8.3 and 6.1 hectares each. Subsequent to the success of that contract, we secured another contract in Copper Canyon to lay out new cut blocks that were approximately 7 hectares.

This project was completed in 2001. To date, KFS has completed more than 200 hectares of bending and breaking, employing as many as eight people.
